Week in my Life–day 7

The final day of my project to document my week was wet!  Not so many photos today, as I spent the day indoors, some sewing, some tidying.  Not until I had got drenched walking the dog!

A spot of ironing:

And more sewing.  I bought these cute raffia containers from Wilkinsons recently.  They look great holding my sewing projects

Look how tidy my dining room looks now!  We have BIL and SIL coming to dinner on Tuesday so I thought I’d better make a start and try to find the table and floor!

Week in My Life day 6

Saturday morning routine in our house is for Maurice to take Merlin for a run, then when he's home and showered, we sit down for coffee and a snack.  Merlin always gets a little titbit too!

It's raining again, but the garden is looking lush and green, and my crab apple tree is flowering:)

I try to do the laundry on a Friday, but this week, I still have loads to do today.  I'm getting to grips with the new Weightwatchers plan.

I decide to finish off a scrapbook of our 1999 holiday to Spain.  Such fun scrapping the old photos and remembering good times

I am having a bit of luck with selling some of my Dad's old stuff from his garage on eBay.  Here's some vintage tins and some watch barrels waiting to be listed.

And some stuff I listed last week had sold, so it's all packaged up waiting to be posted on Monday.

Then, I can spend the rest of the afternoon sewing!  I am still buzzing with inspiration from Lynette, so I 'shopped' from my stash to make the cushion on the front cover of her new book.  Here's the book and my other purchases.  A jelly roll of Japanese taupe fabric, and the cutest doggie buttons!  Burnice bought me the handbag pattern for driving.

In the evening we went to dinner with my oldest friend from school!  We have known each other 40 years, and are still in touch regularly:)

Week in the life day 5

Gosh!  Day 5 already!!

The weather was much better today, blue skies with white fluffy clouds, and it felt a bit warmerSmile.  Our morning walk was through the park, down to the seafront and back along the prom.  This playground is a happy new addition to our seafront.  How we’d have loved it when our kids were little – it’s just 5 minutes walk straight down to the sea from our house.

I had a mad 5 minutes, rushing about the house making things look neat and tidy for friends coming for coffee.  My usual Friday morning friends come about 11.30am so lots of time for sprucing up, but today I’d invited some other friends at 10am!  EEK!

But we had a lovely time, drinking coffee and I had even made some cupcakes!

After lunch I drove over to Brighton to pick up my crafty friend Burnice, and then we drove half way round the M25 (not the best thing to be doing on a Friday afternoon) to Antique Angel, our favourite online quilt shop!  We visited their workroon, made a couple of purchases, then went to a nearby hotel for a ‘trunk show’ by my favourite quilter, Lynnette Anderson!  Here’s me with Lynnette just after she ahs signed her new book for me.  We absolutely loved her talk and she had bought lots of her gorgeous quilts for us to look at and touch and feel.  In fact, we sat for the second half of the talk with one of her quilts on our laps!

And one day I really will sew a Christmas Quilt, this ‘Scandinavian Christmas’ by Lynette is my favourite at the moment.

Week in the life day 4

Still the threat of rain this morning.  Here I am getting ready to go out with Merlin, tuning my phone into radio 2 so I can listen to Chris Evans while walking.

Has to be a quick walk this morning as I am due at CAB at 9am, so through the park.  Merlin finds a puddle!

Along the main road and back to our house.  I love the yellow petals of the berberis on the pavement.

cycling to CAB, the sun has come out now.

My greenhouse in the garden is dismantled at the moment, so I have this ‘mini’ greenhouse in the conservatory.  And of course, I couldn’t miss taking a photo of my lovely orange tulips!

I decide to do a spot of gardening and clear this weedy gravel path by the front door

After about half an hour I go indoors to check on our bank blalnces.  This year my One Little Word is economise, so I am trying to keep a track of our spending against a budget we drew up recently.  I am happy to report that for the first 3 months of the year, we are pretty much on track!  Off to rejoin Weightwatchers!  I have tried for so long on my own, time for some help with weight loss.

Week in the Life day 3

Wednesday started off very WET!  Merlin and I got very wet on our walk.  Here’s some damp dog towels and waterproof overtrousers dripping!

Our delivery from www.riverford.co.uk arrives on my doorstep on a Wednesday morning.

Off to my Pilates class, no pictures I’m afraid.

Very squally showers, look our bin blew over, even though it is tucked into the corner.

12.04.26 week in the life 005

Luckily the wind and rain died down while I went to the hairdressers, for colour and cut and blow dry.  Much as I like the effect, I really hate sitting in there for 2 hours!

12.04.26 week in the life 012

I went out with Mum in the afternoon to a garden centre.  Forgot to take my camera, which was a shame, because we saw the most gorgeous rhododendron flowers!

Here’s a couple of projects I’m working on.  First is a little crotcheting.  I’m doing a cushion cover by sewing together these little squares, in my lounge colours.

Second is a scrapbook page which is part of our 1999 holiday to Estepona, Spain.  I’m loving using these bright zingy papers from American Crafts!

But look what a mess my room is in!  One of my ‘aha’ moments from my Time course is that I spend too much time faffing around in here because it is so messy.  Time to really clear the clutter!

12.04.26 week in the life 018

While we were out for our evening dog walk, the sun tried to peep through the clouds and there was a magical light!  I’ve tried to capture it in these photos:
